CBNNews.com - While most Christians worldwide enjoy religious freedom, that's certainly not the case everywhere.

Christians are being arrested and killed in the African nation of Eritrea.

It's happening in the town of Mendefera.

Compass Direct News reports that security officers arrested 162 Christians in the month of October.

The crackdown targeted members of Pentecostal churches and those associated with the Orthodox Renewal Movement.

Compass reports that some of the prisoners are being beaten, and at least two Christians have died.

Eritrea has arrested more than 2,000 Christians since 2002, when it began closing churches that were not registered with the government.
